What to expect in a Florida bathroom
The thing that most often changes a bathroom quote is what's behind the tile. Older Tampa Bay houses — anything built before the mid-90s — frequently have a mortar-bed shower with no modern waterproofing membrane. If it comes out wet, that's a real repair, not a surprise upsell. We flag the possibility in the quote so it isn't a shock.
Ventilation matters more here than almost anywhere. A bathroom that stays humid grows mold behind new tile just as happily as it did behind the old. If your fan is undersized or vents into the attic instead of outside, we'll say so.
Second-floor bathrooms in two-storey homes are the one case where we're slower to quote from photos alone — what's under the pan matters, and a short video walkthrough is worth doing before anyone commits to a number.
Questions
Can you move the shower or toilet?
Not in a refresh. Moving plumbing is licensed work handled separately by a licensed trade. Keeping the fixtures where they are is most of why a refresh costs what it does.
Can you convert a tub to a walk-in shower?
Sometimes, if the drain stays put and no wall moves — but it depends on the room. Send photos and we'll tell you straight whether yours is a refresh or a bigger job.
What if there's water damage behind the tile?
We tell you before we start that it's a possibility, and if we find it, we stop and price the repair before continuing. You'll never get a surprise invoice.
How long does a bathroom take?
Less time than people expect, but tile and grout have to cure on their own schedule. We give you a date range with the quote.
Do you do the glass shower enclosure?
Standard enclosures, yes. Frameless custom glass gets measured after the tile is set and is quoted separately, because the number depends on the final opening.
